Containment Quality Associates Ltd has been involved in a wide range of remediation projects in europe, North Africa, the Middle East and the Caspian region including:
UK: Design and turnkey management of a bioremediation project for an American car component manufacturer. Historical contamination by oil and other hydrocarbons had to be cleaned up within one year in order for a factory to be sold without liability.
Italy: Project management for the preparation of a detailed remediation design to mitigate oil-contaminated soil at a military transportation depot using excavation, encapsulation and intrinsic bioremediation.
Germany: Project management for the assessment of existing drainage protection and the design of an upgraded surface water collection system and POL Separators at military base. Included the preparation of Contract Documents, detailed design drawings, health and safety plans and maintenance plans.
UK: Project Manager for a multiphase site investigation and the subsequent design of remediation works on a 25 Ha industrial site. The work was required to reduce liability after site closure. The ground was contaminated with oil, PAH and metals.
Hungary: Project Managers responsible for final delivery, report production and closure. The location was a former industrial site with widespread oil contamination. Techniques such as composting, vacuum extracting and landfilling were employed.
Qatar: Lead technical experts on a solid waste management study for the complete operations of the state oil company. The scope of work involved investigating extensive oil contamination from a terminal and tank farm operation. Recommendations were made for environmental mitigation measures and a remediation process, which included product recovery.
Hungary: Project Manager for this fast-track project to find a solution for extensive oil contamination under a large industrial building. The remediation solution involved treatment of the areas of highest contamination, with long-term biodegradation in-situ of the remaining contamination.
UK, Belgium, Netherlands, France: Programme managers for a call-off contract for environmental mitigation projects throughout the EU. The works completed included oil tank removal, soil clean-up design and regulatory negotiations.
Algeria: Lead technical specialist for the geological aspects of an EIA for a new field development, including wells, processing plant, pipeline and support infrastructure. A major part of this work involves the assessment, mitigation and eventual remediation of heavily diesel-contaminated drill cuttings in disposal pits.
UK: Design of an effluent treatment system for a leakage of chemically contaminated effluents, thereby preventing serious contamination of a nearby river. The contaminants included cyanides, acid and phenols and a multi-stage process was designed.
Azerbaijan: Design of remediation project for the removal of metallic mercury from soils and design of landfill for the disposal of mercury contaminated soils.
Poland: Supervision of Stage II investigation of ground and groundwater contamination at the site of existing automotive components factory in western Poland.
UK: Supervision of partial demolition and remediation of contamination at automotive components factory in southern England. Remediation comprised the construction, lining and filling of cells for landfarming under polytunnels.
UK: Project Manager for the investigation of ground and groundwater contamination on the site of a former printing ink manufacturing factory in the south of England.
UK: Carried out investigation of diesel fuel spillage at building supplies depot including recommendations for remediation.
UK: Carried out hydrogeological investigation of former gas works in Essex including installation and monitoring of piezometers. Carried out pumping tests to evaluate options for bioremediation of groundwater.
UK: Carried out ground and groundwater investigation for design of bioremediation scheme for former gas works site in Yorkshire.
UK: Project Manager for an environmental audit of a PVC coatings plant in the south of England. Ground and groundwater contamination were investigated and the associated chemical analysis of soil and water samples were carried out to US EPA standards.
UK: Carried out desk study audit of former explosives and fuse manufacturing site for potential site purchasers.
UK: Designed and supervised Stage II investigation of plastics and pigment plant in NW England to determine levels of ground and groundwater contamination.
UK: Carried out investigation of factory site formerly used for the production of glass to determine extent and degree of hydrocarbon, heavy metal and acid contamination in the ground and groundwater prior to change of use.
UK: Investigation of site of former gasworks and recommendations for monitoring and site redevelopment.
