Design and construction supervision of hospitals and clinics, Azerbaijan: CQA was appointed by the Government of Azerbaijan (with World Bank funding) to design three general hospitals and approximately 30 clinics. CQA is responsible for design, architecture and engineering, permitting, procurement, construction supervision, financial performance and reporting.
Procurement assistance for waste to energy incinerator, Azerbaijan: CQA was responsible for the preparation of DBO tender documents for a large incinerator complex with energy generation facilities. This has involved understanding client’s requirements, waste availability and specific commercial and logistical issues. The project also involves implementing improvements to the waste management system, such as landfill closure. CQA subsequently carried out an evaluation of tenders and is currently advising on procurement issues.
Azerbaijan: Resident project manager and technical specialist for an $8.1 million project to remediate mercury contamination at an industrial site, including design and construction of a hazardous waste landfill and improvement of transportation links to the new landfill. CQA provided overall technical and financial management and procurement of goods and services under World Bank rules. CQA also acted as a nominated environment specialist for the project and is contributing to the development of new waste management legislation.
Romania: Resident project manager and technical specialist for a €21M EU-funded integrated waste management project. Comprised complex construction of a new landfill on a sloping site, construction of a composting plant and the closure of an existing landfill facility.
Kosovo: Resident project manager and technical specialist for an EU-funded hazardous mine tailings restoration project. Comprised reshaping of tailings material, drainage, capping and construction of erosion protection.
