Site Selection, Environmental Assessment & Due Diligence

Containment Quality Associates Ltd. have carried out a number of environmental assessment and due diligence projects including:

Falkland Islands: Evaluation of a former hard rock quarry for development of a landfill for the Ministry of Defence.

Belarus and Ukraine: Identification of potential sites for industrial development, audit to evaluate potential liabilities and engineering and development issues, liaison with state committees to determine design standards and management of site investigation drilling works.

Baku, Azerbaijan: Environmental audit of potential sites for the future development of BP (Caspian Sea) corporate offices. Audit of hazardous waste generation. Preparation of EIA’s for the use of alternative solid and liquid fuels and alternative raw materials in cement kilns and preparation of an Ecological Passport for a cement plant.

Sumgayit, Azerbaijan: Environmental audit of site selected by the World Bank for the future development of the National Hazardous Waste Management Site.

Tbilisi, Georgia: Waste audit for oil export pipeline from Azerbaijan to Black Sea Terminal. Recommendations were provided for the upgrading of waste disposal procedures.

Qatar: Waste management study and EIA for a new petrochemical factory. Technical expert for solid waste management and contamination mitigation issues.

Pakistan: CQA assisted the main consultants in a number of tasks on the EIA and FEED for a new field development. Major topics included the reconnaissance of an 80km pipeline route through fragile agricultural land; river crossings for roads and pipelines, a processing terminal development, campsites, the evaluation of water resources, aquatic impact, erosion potential on roads and rivers, construction material sources and waste disposal.

Worldwide: Advice to ICI on potential environmental liabilities and costs in a $4 billion acquisition from Unilever. Review of over 150 reports and associated literature, formulation of conceptual models of site conditions and estimation of costs of environmental clean-up, compliance and outstanding liabilities.
